GES RESCINDS ITS EARLIER DECISION ON A SEMESTER SYSTEM FOR BASIC SCHOOLS

 Visual Arts Students Can Now Offer Engineering In Univ As Min. Of Educ. Launches One Year Pre-University Course for Non-Science SHS Graduates.   In a Facebook post, Minister of Education Doctor Osei Yaw Adutwum confirmed the launching or inauguration of a game Changer scheme for all Secondary Schools in the country. According him, the game Changer is a one year pre- engineering program to train Secondary school graduates with non science backgrounds to pursue science related courses in tertiary institutions. He added that, this training will go a long way in equipping the students with potentials to enter into the university to pursue engineering courses. This will really help Visual Arts Students to go through this one year program to be prepared to offer Engineering Courses. GES COMMENCED A 3 - DAY WORKSHOP FOR JHS TEACHERS ON CCP

Management of the Ghana Education Service has commenced a 3-day Cluster Based Training for Junior High School (JHS) teachers on Common Core Programme Curriculum across the Country. According to the schedules, the training workshop is set to begin from Wednesday, 12th January, 2022 to Friday, 14th January, 2022 at designated centres withn each GES Metro/Municipal/District Directorate. According to GES, following the decision to ensure full implementation of the Common Core Programme (CCP) in the impending Academic year, there is the need for Cluster Based Training for all Junior High School . In view of this, the Ghana Education Service (GES) is inviting all JHS teachers to the above – mentioned Workshop. Regional Directors of Education are kindly requested to communicate this information to all Metro/Municipal/District Directors to invite all JHS teachers to fully participate in this all important training programme. OTUMFUO OSEI TUTU EXPRESS WORRY OVER POWER OUTAGES IN ASHANTI REGION

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is worried about the recent power outages in the Ashanti Region. Speaking during a courtesy call on him by the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Asantehene said the intermittent power outages had destroyed his electrical appliances. “I have been experiencing power outages recently. The light goes off and comes back without caution. All my appliances have been damaged because of the outages. So I sent messengers to him to enquire about what’s the problem was. PARLIAMENT APPROVES 2022 BUDGET STATEMENT

Parliament has today November 30, 2021, approved the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of government presented by Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta on the 17th of November this year.  This comes following earlier confusion on whether or not the budget had been rejected at Friday’s Parliamentary sitting. The Majority side accused the Speaker of the House, Alban Bagbin for acting in breach of the 1992 constitution after the speaker claimed that 137 members of parliament had taken a decision to reject the budget, an act that fails the constitutional requirement of 138 MPs present in the house before a decision can be made. Today’s sitting was delayed by hours of meetings between the majority and minority leadership aimed at exploring how to cure the unconstitutionality committed by speaker Bagbin and the 137 MPs.  Adesua Foundation Ghana led by Nana Frimpong Manso Adakabre and the Ghana -  USA  Traditional and Council  Diaspora led by Nana Amoako Yiadom Gyata Fihankrahene of Agogo Traditional area and his wife  Nana Abena Konadu Yiadom Gyata  has started the construction of a school in Nyamebekyere a suburb of Agogo Asante Akim North.   The ceremony was attend by Nana Anim Marfo the Anantahene and other sub Chiefs in the area.  There is no school in Nyamebekyere and students have to trek to the nearest town Brahabebome, a distance of about 10km before they could access basic education.  The items includes heaps of sand, blocks and bags of cement.
